Portrait of three grave diggers posing with a recently dug grave in a cemetery, location unknown, c. 1860s. Attributed to Mathew Brady. Note the blanket in the foreground used for collecting dirt from the grave as it is being dug. Also, a possible hearse is seen in the background at the top of the hill at left.

Animated time-lapse daguerreotype view of the grave of Henry Clay, Jr. in Mexico taken by an unidentified photographer during the Mexican-American War, c. 1847. Lieutenant Colonel Clay was killed at the Battle of Buena Vista in February 1847. It is unclear which grave was his, why the crosses seemed to be switched around between photos and also why the camera was moved.
