An original and an altered carte de visite portraits of John Wilkes Booth. The first was taken by Charles Deforest Fredricks in New York City around 1863. The second is an altered version in which Booth is made to look like he is being whispered to by the devil in Ford’s Theater while holding a pistol and knife. This was probably made shortly after Booth’s assassination of President Abraham Lincoln probably in 1865 and was published by Macoy & Herwig.
