Time-lapse daguerreotype views of the steamer Sagamore docked on the San Joaquin River in Stockton, California, c. 1850. By William Herman Rulofson. At least two dozen people died on the Sagamore after its boilers exploded and it sank in San Francisco on November 21, 1850.
