Two rare views of Union soldiers of the 31st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment posing in various formations in a camp near Fort Slocum in Washington, D.C., 1862. The men in front look like they are posing in skirmish line formations while the troops in the rear are posing in regimental line formations.
